The Story of BOB©

My full name is Andrew Stephen Damick. I am a student at North Carolina State University, majoring in Communication with a Theatre concentration. I was born in Newport News, Virginia, to a Navy family. We moved around many times, until my father finished with the Navy and joined Trans World Radio, the world's largest Christian radio organization. We moved to Guam eventually, to serve at TWR's site there. After 5 years on Guam, we moved back to the States to Mansfield, Ohio. We lived there for 3 years, and then moved to the Raleigh, North Carolina area, where my father works at TWR's International Headquarters. I am currently employed as a techie (one of the people in black) at Stewart Theatre at NCSU. For a time, I also wrote a weekly column entitled "Netcetera" for Technician (NCSU's newspaper) in their et cetera section. That's some pretty dry info, isn't it?

Here's the good stuff!

I am the leader of the organization known as Club BOB© . Look for the Club BOB© WWW page. It's alive!

I am one of the few real poets that I've ever met. (In-person, that is.) I don't mean someone who just writes poetry, I mean someone who is a poet. It's not an activity, it's a way of thinking. If you've ever met me, or read or seen my play, The Truth of Poets, you know what I mean.

I believe in the right to say what you think, without worrying about social consequences. As the old, cliched line says, "To thine own self be true." It's true.

Speaking of Shakespeare, I love him. I love his plays. I love his language. I love his sonnets. 'Nuff said.

Theatre is my passion. It always shall be. I have done all of the following in theatre, to various extents: acting, singing, dancing, directing, technical directing, lighting design and operation, sound design and operation, set design and construction, spotlight operation, stage management, playwriting, and some other things I can't remember. My ideal future is to be in New York or London someday, writing and directing my own plays, with some acting thrown in.

I am constantly writing: theatre, sonnets, free verse, blank verse, and a mountain of epigrams. I have a style which I find to be quite unique. You can check out some of my writing on my poetry page.

I have an odd wit, which make it so people generally either like me or dislike me, with no real fence-riding. I like it that way. I don't want anyone to feel luke-warm about me.

Keep checking this page for new developments.
